Over the years, Le Petit Tennis has received requests from parents across the world for more information on how to teach tennis to their very young children at home. While some parents have enrolled their children in formal Le Petit Tennis classes at clubs, resorts, schools and parks/recreations center, they also want to be able to practice the same exercises with their children at home. A large number of parents don’t have access to Le Petit Tennis classes in their local area and existing tennis classes are only for children age 8 and older.
This parent training manual and the accompanying parent training video have been specifically designed to enable parents to teach tennis to their children utilizing The Extraordinary Voyages Booklet Series. They contain detailed information on effective strategies that work with children ages 3-5. The manual also offers detailed, step by step instructions for conducting eleven different missions that require exercises. The Le Petit Tennis methodology does not require prior sports coaching experience. Success is dependent on a parent instructor’s ability to effectively utilize stories to engage a child and to demonstrate the required actions to perform.
The Le Petit Tennis (LPT) story based teaching system has been designed by sports and child psychologists, school teachers and tennis coaches. The Extraordinary Voyages system is specifically designed to be used with children in the age category of 3-5 years old. The age specific format and validated content is not appropriate for older children. With Le Petit Tennis age adapted equipment and courts tailored to suit their needs and abilities, children will feel confident as soon as they pick up a racquet. Using a child adapted teaching format allows children to rally back and forth over the net right away and enjoy the game right from the start. The Extraordinary Voyages system incorporates a story and image based component that allows for better communication with children and maximizes their attention span and focus.
